JAKARTA The Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) has conducted an initial inspection or screening of all State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Karya. From the initial examination, it was found that there were BUMN Karya employees who also concurrently served as subcontractors.

The SOEs examined were PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk. (WSKT); PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. (WIKA); PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. (ADHI); PT PP (Persero) Tbk. (PTPP); and PT Hutama Karya (Persero).

BPKP Deputy for Investigation Agustina Arumsari explained that in general, BUMN Karya has problems related to accounts related to subcontractors.

Sari, Agustina Arumsani's nickname, explained that this issue has similarities with what happened at PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk.

"Just like Waskita Karya, there are indeed internal control weaknesses there. For example, there are employees who are also subcontractors," he said at the BPKP Headquarters, Jakarta, Thursday, February 1.

In addition, Sari said there were also transactions that could not be traced. However, he said that the details of the problems in BUMN Karya will only be presented by the Deputy for Finance and Risk Management of the Ministry of SOEs, Nawal Nely, to BPKP next week.

Sari said, after the presentation was made, BPKP would only explore transactions from BUMN Karya that could not be traced. According to him, it is also possible that there will be embezzlement of funds by the company.

Sari also said that BPKP had coordinated with the Public Accounting Office (KAP) regarding the initial screening of BUMN Karya. He said, the results of several KAP stated that there were a number of indications showing a conflict of interest.

"There are indications that, for example, there is a conflict of interest, how come there are employees who are subcontractors, there are transactions that cannot be traced, then there are subcontractors whose appointments are not accountable," he said.

Sari also conveyed that in another development, BPKP had completed Waskita's audit and had submitted the results to the Ministry of SOEs in mid-December 2023. Unfortunately, Sari was reluctant to reveal the findings of the audit results.

"We have submitted Waskita Karya's (audit) to the Ministry of SOEs. Now it is in the process of improving conditions at Waskita Karya," he explained.
