Extension Of The Jakarta-Surabaya High Speed Train Route, KCIC Boss: Phase I Built To Yogyakarta

JAKARTA - The high-speed rail project will certainly be extended. If previously it was Jakarta-Bandung, the follow-up route would be Jakarta-Surabaya. The plan, phase I will be built until Yogyakarta first.

President Director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said his party was working on a construction plan. He said, for this initial stage the project would not immediately connect Jakarta with the City of Heroes.

He said, in this early stage, the extension of the high-speed train route is likely to be worked on until DI Yogyakarta first.

"On several occasions there is a President, Mr. Luhut (Menko Marves), Ministry of SOEs, Ministry of Transportation, all of them conveyed that there are plans for extensions to Surabaya. Maybe the stages go to Yogyakarta first," he told reporters in Jakarta, written Friday, January 26.

Furthermore, Dwiyana also explained why the extension of the route was not directly up to Surabaya. According to him, this is due to the question of the cost and timing of the construction of the project.

"There is a possibility like that. If it reaches Surabaya, it may be a matter of time, a matter of costs. Why not Yogyakarta?," he said.

Even so, Dwiyana said that her party would conduct a study in advance regarding the plan. One of them is a feasibility study.

"We have a lot of experience from Jakarta-Bandung, it should be better to later spend to Yogya and Surabaya," he said.
