Ministry Of PUPR: Inpres For Drinking Water And Sanitation Will Be Issued In February 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets that presidential instructions regarding drinking water and sanitation will be issued in February 2024.

This was stated by the Director General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti when met at the ARTOTEL Suites Mangkuluhur, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 24.

"I have to check with my friends at the State Secretariat (Setneg), but God willing (it will be) at the most in February," said Diana.

Diana said that the inpres must have been issued before the era of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) leadership was completed. "Yes, the implementation in 2024 (before the change of leadership)," he said.

According to him, the issuance of the inpres itself is just waiting for President Jokowi's signature. So, it can only be implemented in the future.

"Yes, the president just has to sign. We are preparing for the implementation in 2024. Bismillah," he added.

For your information, currently access to drinking water is only 91.08 percent in Indonesia and access to drinking water is safe at 11.08 percent.

Therefore, the Ministry of PUPR seeks presidential instructions regarding drinking water and sanitation. This is to speed up household connections from water treatment plants (IPA) throughout Indonesia.

The Presidential Instruction will take effect in 2025. For the Presidential Instruction of drinking water and sanitation, the total requirement is IDR 16.6 trillion, which is intended not only to build water treatment infrastructure (IPA), but also to install connections to people's homes in order to achieve the target of 10 million SR.
