Replace Dudung Abdulrachman, Erick Thohir Appoints Mantu Luhut Pandjaitan As Komut Pindad

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir appointed Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak as President Commissioner of PT Pindad replacing TNI (Ret.) General Dudung Abdurachman.

The appointment of the son-in-law of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was marked by the submission of a copy of the Decree of the Minister of SOEs number: SK-16/MBU/01/2024 and the President Director of the Company's Company (Persero) PT Len Industri as shareholder of PT Pindad number: 001/KRUPS/LEN-PINDAD/I/2024.

Maruli Simanjuntak's appointment was held on Monday, January 22 at the Auditorium of PT Pindad Bandung, West Java.

Deputy Minister of SOEs, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo hopes that Maruli's presence as a commissioner of PT Pindad in the future can form a design for the defense industry, especially in the Army for the next five years.

"We can develop the R&D process together. In addition, make sure Pindad is also in a healthy condition so that in the future we can focus on producing businesses with good profits," he said, quoted from Pindad's official website, Tuesday, January 23.

The reason, continued Tiko, Kartika's nickname, is that SOEs are designed as development agents in various sectors and generate profits. In the context of development, SOEs together with the government can build the capability of developing the long-term defense industry, not only downstream products but also upstream.

Tiko also said that currently SOEs were asked by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to carry out long-term strategic planning in the defense industry which match with the Ministry of Defense in three dimensions, namely AD, AL and AU.

"It is hoped that the defense industry will become one of the largest manufacturing industries in Indonesia. Our hope is that Pindad can become a big partner for the Indonesian defense industry and build a strong manufacturing industry for the Indonesian nation in the future," he said.

On this occasion, Tiko also congratulated Maruli Simanjuntak for his inauguration as President Commissioner of PT Pindad.

"Congratulations on the inauguration of TNI General Maruli Simanjuntak as President Commissioner of PT Pindad and thank you for all the contributions made by TNI General (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman for two years as President Commissioner of PT Pindad," he said.
