PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, utilized 30 percent of the airport commercial area to market micro, small and medium enterprise products from DIY and Central Java.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Yogyakarta International Airport Ruly Artha in Kulon Progo, Monday, January 22, said that more than 700 MSME products from Yogyakarta and Central Java were marketed in commercial areas of Yogyakarta International Airport in order to support the development of the economy, tourism and regional culture that could support the sustainable airport business.
"The designation of 30 percent of commercial areas for MSMEs is also a form of commitment to Government Regulation (PP) Number 7 of 2021 concerning Ease, Protection, and Empowerment of Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises," said Ruly, quoted from Antara.
He said empowering MSMEs in airport areas was an effort to increase the interest of service users and tourists to shop at airports, and directly contribute positively to improving and equitable economic welfare for the community who are MSME business actors.
The YIA MSME area is one of the flagship programs for empowering MSMEs at airports.
"YIA has a special MSME area with a total area of 2,294 square meters, which is divided into two areas, namely the Malioboro Tugu Area (KTM) located at the Mezzanine Floor Liaison Building and the Kotagede Market Gallery which can be found in the departure waiting room," he said.
Ruly said the Malioboro Tugu area that connects the passenger terminal with the YIA vehicle parking building has an area of 889.2 square meters, and is an MSME area designed to resemble the Malioboro Tugu area, complete with a miniature Yogyakarta Monument which is one of the icons of tourism in Yogyakarta.
The Malioboro Tugu area can facilitate 200 MSME products with the handicraft product (craft) business sector and home decoration products, clothing, culinary delights, and souvenirs.
The Kotagede Market Gallery is a miniature of Kotagede Market, the legendary traditional market that has been established since the 16th century, has an area of 1,395.08 square meters and can accommodate up to 500 MSME products.
