Dragged By SAP Bribery Scandal, This Is MRT Jakarta's Response

JAKARTA - PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta (Persode) has opened its voice regarding the alleged involvement of a bribery case with a software company from the European Union based in Germany, SAP.

Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Ahmad Pratomo said that his party is committed to implementing good corporate governance through the implementation of ISO 31000 since 2014.

Ahmad said this was also reinforced by the implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) according to SNI ISO 37001:2016.

"Integrity is fundamental and is one of the main internal core values," he said in a written statement to reporters, Wednesday, January 17.

Ahmad said the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) was implemented by the management of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) to control risks related to bribery in each company's activities, including in the planning and procurement process.

Furthermore, Ahmad also implies that MRT Jakarta is collaborating with SAP. However, he claimed to have complied with the provisions.

"Similarly, the procurement of SAP has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations that prioritize good corporate governance aspects," he said.

For your information, SAP is a European Union software company based in Germany.

This company markets its software worldwide, including Indonesia through Indonesian SAP.

In his case, the United States Justice Dapertement released a US SEC report on the practice of bribery of SAP in South Africa and Indonesia.

In the report, it was stated that there were two bribes, namely the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), as well as the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) through BP3TI which is now called BAKTI.

The US SEC document became the basis for the United States Justice Dapertement to mention the broader practice of Indonesian SAP bribery.

Where it was stated that the representative of the German company bribed the Ministry of Social Affairs, the DKI Provincial Government, and the Jakarta MRT.

SAP Indonesia itself was recorded to have received a project of 174,908 US dollars on March 22, 2018.

However, the SEC did not mention the name of the official who received the bribe and the amount of money given.
