PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) is ready to spend IDR 280 billion to support the development of telecommunication infrastructure in the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago.

Telkom Vice President Network/IT Strategy Rizal Akbar said, overall the total investment disbursed would be able to meet the needs of around 400,000 residents for the next three years.

"In this early stage, we invested in Rp280 billion in stages. The concept actually ensures that all the integrity of the telecommunication network as required by OIKN is built," Rizal told reporters at The Westin, Jakarta, Monday, January 15.

Rizal said that the investment that his party would disburse was made for the needs of the telecommunication network as required by the IKN Authority to be completed before the 79th Indonesian Independence Ceremony on August 17, 2024.

He added that one of the initial investments injected by his party would also be used to support the construction of fiber optics in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) 1A.

"(Investment) includes (to build) fiber in the KIPP 1A area, building towers, smart pole. Then, wifi access there," he said.

According to him, the total investment value could increase if the user traffic continued to increase.

"What has been decided at the director's meeting (investment) is Rp280 billion, that's the initial stage. We are ready to add investment according to the growth of traffic (users)," he added.
