JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has opened its voice regarding the alleged bribery case by a software company based in Germany, SAP.
Spokesperson for the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Wahyu Muryadi said his party did not know about the case.
"We don't know anything about this problem. According to the article, (the case) occurred in 2015-2018. We are not in a position to answer because it is outside the leadership era of Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono," Wahyu told VOI, Monday, January 15.
The information on the alleged bribery of SAP to the KKP was conveyed by the United State Department of Justice US DOJ or the Department of Justice of the United States (US) through a press release on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
In the release, the SAP will pay more than $220 million to complete an investigation conducted by the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or the Securities and Exchange commission against violations of the Foreign Corruption Practice Act (FCPA).
"The resolution of the SAP with the department stems from a bribery scheme to government officials in South Africa and Indonesia. This joint effort resulted in the defendant's company paying a significant criminal penalty and approving long-term improvement measures," the US Department of Justice said in a statement.

When asked further whether the KKP had received a report regarding the follow-up to the alleged case, Wahyu confirmed that there was no such case.
"There is no (information about the examination) yet," he concluded.
