Indonesian Young People Reluctant To Become Farmers, Prabowo: His Father Is Unprofitable, His Life Is Difficult

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate (Capres) Number Urut 02, Prabowo Subianto revealed the reason young people are reluctant to choose to become farmers.

The absence of regeneration makes the number of farmers continue to decrease in the country.

The reason behind young people refusing to become farmers, said Prabowo, was related to the welfare of farmers.

"Why are farmers reduced? Because young people see their fathers not profitable, their lives are difficult, the exchange rate is not suitable," he said in the Dialogue of the Presidential Candidate with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Jakarta, Friday, January 12.

He said, currently many children from farmers have difficulty getting access to good education. A

"So taking sides with the management of fertilizers must go to farmers, don't cultivate a lot of intermediaries and don't let them be traded, it's subsidized fertilizer for the people," he said.

Prabowo also mentioned the role of Perum Bulog in the Soeharto era.

He said, Perum Bulog at that time served as a supervisor. When the price in farmers is not good, it can be controlled.

"That's why the good management in the days of Pak Harto was dismantled? What's true is that Bulog carried out control operations. If the price for farmers is not good, it can be controlled, but consumers in the city are also guarded," he said.
