Visiting South Korea-China, Minister of Transportation Will Discuss Cooperation Between LRT Bali and IKN Trackless Trains

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi paid a working visit to South Korea (South Korea) and China.

This visit is to discuss cooperation in the railway and aviation sectors with these two countries.

"Some of the things we discussed were starting from plans to build an LRT in Bali, Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) in the Archipelago Capital (IKN), high-tech railway communication and signaling networks, to exploring cooperation opportunities related to commercial aircraft," he said in a statement. official, Tuesday, January 9.

In South Korea, Budi will meet with South Korean Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation Mr. Sangwoo Park and a number of other parties, including the leaders of the Korea National Railway (KNR) and Eximbank, to discuss the continuation of cooperation in building the LRT in Bali for phase 1 from Ngurah Rai Airport to Central Park.

Budi said the LRT would be the first rail transportation on the Island of the Gods. Budi also hopes that the presence of this mode of transportation can overcome traffic jams there.

"LRT Bali will be the first rail-based mass transportation in Bali which is expected to be a solution to the problem of congestion. "We hope that the Feasibility Study, which started in early January 2023, can be completed by mid-2024," he said.

Meanwhile, in China, Budi is scheduled to meet with Chinese Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng and a number of other parties. One of them is the head of the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC).

Budi said, the meeting with CRRC was to discuss the continuation of cooperation regarding the development of mass transportation by Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) for the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).

Furthermore, Budi will also meet with Huawei leadership to explore opportunities for cooperation regarding intelligent and high-tech railway systems. Huawei is the company working on the construction of the communications network for the Whoosh High-speed ​​Train.

Apart from discussing cooperation in the railway sector, the Minister of Transportation will also meet with the leadership of the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) to explore opportunities for investment cooperation in the aviation sector.

Currently, COMAC is the main aircraft supplier company for domestic airline Transnusa.
