JAKARTA - The government cut the Pertalite special fuel type quota (JBKP) from the previous 32.56 million kiloliters (KL) in 2023 to 31.7 million KL in 2024.
Head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) Erika Retnowati said the decrease in quota was driven by the realization of fuel consumption in 2023.
"We calculate with growth (consumption), then we also see an increase from last year to 2023 so that we set for the quota in 2024 is 31.7 million kiloliters," Erika said, quoted on Tuesday, January 9.
Just so you know, the realization of Pertalite consumption in 2023 is 92.24 percent or about 30 million KL of the total quota of 32.56 million KL.
"The 30 million KL has indeed experienced growth from 2022 but the growth is not as big as in previous years," added Erika.

Erika said that this growth indicates improvement in the management and control of Pertalite consumption, processed by the government and business entities.
Another factor that also affects, continued Erika, is changes in people's behavior which are starting to use public transportation a lot. Moreover, Jakarta, which has many choices of types of public transportation, is quite comfortable.
"Maybe that's what caused that growth not to be as high as in previous years," concluded Erika.
