Realization Of People's Palm Oil Rejuvenation 2023 In West Kalimantan Covering An Area Of 18,573 Hectares

JAKARTA - Head of Plantation Facilities and Protection Infrastructure, West Kalimantan Province Plantation and Livestock Service (Kalbar) Erita Fitriani said the realization of the 2023 People's Palm Oil Rejuvenation (PSR) program in West Kalimantan was 18,573 hectares.

"From the realization of the 2023 people's palm oil rejuvenation program in West Kalimantan, 18,573 hectares involved 8,042 planters," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, January 8.

From the regional side, he said, the realization of the PSR program in West Kalimantan includes Ketapang, Sambas, Bengkayang, Landak, Sanggau, Sekadau, Melawi and Kubu Raya regencies.

"There are eight districts from 14 regencies or cities in West Kalimantan that carry out this PSR program. We continue to encourage this," he said.

Regarding the acceleration of realization in the field, a number of challenges such as palm oil prices are still relatively high, so there are still many who withdraw from the PSR program proposal. Then the process of completing the land certificates that are still constrained at the bank.

"HR of a limited accompanying team to carry out group verification in the field and the process of mapping gardens and synchronizing data between related institutions is still a challenge," he said.

Of the various challenges, the parties continue to make efforts to accelerate, including holding meetings at the end of the year several times and asking the district's Palm Oil Plantation Activity Socialization Team (PKSP) to provide assistance to proposed cooperative/institutional candidates as well as currently in the process of recommendations.

"Then more intensive communication with institutions related to the PKSP implementation process in West Kalimantan Province," he said.

Previously, the Head of the West Kalimantan Province Plantation and Livestock Service, Heronimus Hero, said that the best way to increase oil palm productivity was to make rejuvenations.

According to him, the PSR program is a good opportunity for oil palm plantations to increase their palm oil production. So far, the low productivity of oil palm farmers is not only due to old trees, but also errors in choosing seeds.

There used to be many planters planting seedlings, so that productivity was low. So that this PSR can be a solution to increase the productivity of palm oil plants," he said.
