Menparekraf: Christmas And New Year's Holidays Will Donate IDR 120 Trillion For The National Economy

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) said that the momentum of the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays will contribute IDR 120 trillion to the national economy.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said this was due to the existence of good tourism attraction management and continued access.

"We project the contribution of Rp120 trillion to the national economy from the surge in visitors on the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays between 107 to 110 million trips," said Menparekraf Sandiaga at the The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno event in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 3.

Sandiaga added that his party also saw the potential for economic turnover which exceeded the figure of Rp108 trillion from the momentum of the long holiday.

"For economic (twisted), including accommodation, hotels and restaurants, this total of Rp108 trillion is calculated from occupancy of around 70 percent for 10 days with the number of rooms based on BPS data of around 15,500, the room price is around Rp. 1 million. So, this projection is our reference," he said.

He added, based on the results of a survey conducted by his party, around 930 domestic tourists (wisnus) stated that they preferred to stay at the family's relatives' house.

"Then, the duration of the tour is 1-2 hours and 60 percent of foreign tourists use private vehicles," he added.
