OIKN Denies Plans To Provide Incentives Only For Mining Companies, Here's The Explanation

JAKARTA - OIKN Deputy for Funding and Investment Agung Wicaksono denied that the plan to provide tax deduction or tax incentives of up to 200 percent was not only given to mining companies. Agung assessed that the tax incentives would be given to any company.

"This tax deduction incentive does not apply specifically to mining companies. I convey that this is an incentive contained in Government Regulation (PP) Number 12 of 2023 which is currently being perfected by its PP and it applies to any company to contribute to IKN," Agung said in a virtual press conference, quoted on Saturday, December 30.

Agung said that various companies would get a 200 percent tax reduction on their deducted donations of their taxable income.

"But this is not something specific for mining companies. So, this is indeed a step taken for various incentives, some are 200 percent, 300 percent, or even 350 percent, if the contribution is in the form of facilities for R&D," he said.

Agung said that giving a tax deduction of 200 percent is not only for mining companies, but also for other companies that contribute to the development of IKN. "So, this is not specific for the rehabilitation of mining companies only," he added.

Previously reported, the Director of Forestry Utilization and Deputy Water Resources Development for Environment and Natural Resources of the IKN Authority, Pungky Widiaryanto, said that his party is currently developing a mechanism to provide tax deductions or tax incentives of up to 200 percent.

This is given to mining companies that have already used forest areas in IKN for their mining activities.

"There is a kind of incentive from the government to reduce taxes, tax deduction, to 200 percent. We are also developing this mechanism," said Pungky in the agenda of the Public Consultation of the Biological Diversity Management Master Plan virtually, on Wednesday, December 27.
