JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk noted that 28,047 vehicles experienced a balance shortage at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate (GT) of Batang-Semarang Toll Road, in the period 18-28 December 2023.

Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head Lisye Octaviana said the number was 8.71 percent of the total 322,058 vehicles that made transactions at GT Kalikangkung.

"With the lack of e-toll balance and the e-toll top up at the toll booth, it will result in a significant delay time," said Lisye in a written statement, Saturday, December 30.

Lisye said, with the time of delay, his party noted an average reduction in the capacity of toll substation transactions at GT Kalikangkung by -5 percent per hour.

"What was originally in 1 minute we were able to serve transactions of up to five vehicles. However, when the road users lacked balance and had to top up at the toll booth, 1 minute would only be able to serve one vehicle," he said.

He reminded that road users with continuous travel for backflow, especially from Semarang to Jakarta, must prepare an e-toll with a minimum balance of IDR 500,000.

Meanwhile, for road users from Surabaya, to prepare an e-toll with a minimum balance of Rp800,000.

"We also remind users, especially those who travel on the Trans Java Toll Road with a closed transaction system (the rate according to distance), can only use the same e-toll when tapping in and tapping out so that when the balance is less, you can't borrow the e-toll of other road users," said Lisye.

"For that once again, make sure the e-toll balance is sufficient to avoid queues at toll gates," he added.

Jasa Marga again urges road users to ensure their readiness before traveling, including by ensuring the adequacy of e-toll and fuel balances, as well as ensuring the condition of the vehicle and the driver is in prime condition.

When entering GT Cikampek Utama Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, Jasa Marga urges road users to comply with signs and directions from officers because the slightest disturbance that occurs will have an impact on the existing traffic flow and result in queues of vehicles.

Avoid travel at the predicted time to peak the return flow of the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays which are predicted to fall on Monday, January 1, 2024, to avoid accumulation of vehicles.

In addition, the government and Jasa Marga also urge road users who do not have an urgent need to avoid the peak of backflow by delaying or accelerating their return trip to Jabotabek on Saturday/Sunday (30-31 December 2023) and Wednesday (3 January 2023).

This is for a more comfortable trip, as well as being able to take advantage of a 10 percent toll tariff discount for trips from Semarang to Jakarta with a balance after a discount of IDR 367,650 which is valid on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 00.00 WIB until 24.00 WIB.

Obey signs and directions from officers in the field and always be disciplined in the provisions of driving on toll roads. Use time wisely by not lingering in the rest area and always implementing health protocols.
