JAKARTA - The implementation of the power steering scheme, which is currently being discussed in the Draft Law on New Energy and Renewable Energy (RUU EBET) is considered capable of making PT PLN more focused on providing services to the community.
This, according to net energy observer Abadi Poernomo in Jakarta, Friday, December 29, because the power steering scheme will reduce the burden on the energy SOEs.
"Power wheeling will reduce the burden on PLN, so that PLN will focus more on the community so that people will benefit. This scheme has also been implemented in various countries," he said, as reported by Antara.
According to him, through this scheme, PLN's electricity supply will be met, including those from the EBT generator so that the electricity needs of the community and industry will also be sufficient.
"Similarly with industry, which currently requires electricity originating from EBT, it is also fulfilled. Therefore, a combination of EBT generators is needed," he said.
Currently, he continued, the industry needs a clean energy supply. It is possible that the industry installed a solar energy plant, but it will not meet the industry's clean energy needs earlier.
Therefore, he continued, not a few industries will then build an EBT plant, it's just that the generator must be in a specific location far from the industrial area earlier.
However, under current conditions, according to him, the industry cannot immediately use electricity from its EBT generator but must be sold first to PLN, through PLN transmission, and the industry bought its own electricity again.
"Instead of that, the industry that builds the EBT plant should be able to use electricity from its own generator by using PLN transmission. Moreover, the use of transmission is also paid," he said.
Member of Commission VII DPR Sartono Hutomo separately said, power steering is an option to provide an efficient and profitable industry.

Among them, he added, can access various energies including new renewable energy such as wind, hydro, and solar power, as well as efficiency in the use of resources.
"Energy efficiency is needed by the industry today. For that, of course, it requires acceleration that is fast, efficient, and also regulations that are not complicated so that it is easy to implement," he said.
However, according to him, the implementation of the scheme requires regulations that do not overlap and benefit all parties, including PLN.
"This is the key to the success of implementing power steering. Regulations regarding costs, permits, and technical requirements are key factors that can affect the level of ease in implementing power steering," said Sartono.
