Fixed Electricity Tariffs In The First Quarter Of 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided on electricity tariffs for the first quarter (January-March) 2024 for 13 groups of fixed non-subsidized customers or not.

The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman P Hutajulu, explained that the policy is part of the government's efforts through the electricity sector to maintain the competitiveness of business actors, maintain people's purchasing power, and maintain inflation levels.

"The electricity tariff from January to March 2024 has been decided to maintain the competitiveness of business actors, maintain people's purchasing power, and maintain inflation levels in the new year," he said, quoting Antara.

In accordance with the provisions of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 28 of 2016 in conjunction with the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 8 of 2023, the adjustment of electricity tariffs for non-subsidized customers is carried out every three months referring to changes to the realization of macroeconomic parameters, namely the exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and reference coal prices (HBA).

Based on these provisions, the macroeconomic parameters used for the first quarter of 2024 are realization in August, September, and October 2023, namely an exchange rate of IDR 15,446.85 / US dollar, ICP of 86.49 US dollars / barrel, inflation of 0.11 percent, and HBA of 70 US dollars / tons according to the coal domestic market obligation (DMO) policy.

Jisman also reported that the electricity tariff for 25 subsidized groups of customers also did not change and was still given electricity subsidies.

"This includes social customers, poor households, small industries, and customers who use electricity for micro, small and medium enterprises or MSMEs," he said.

The government also expects PT PLN (Persero) to continue to take operational efficiency steps and spur electricity sales more aggressively while maintaining the quality of service provided to the community.
