JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will start the construction of the Pandansimo Bridge in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), early next year.

"Towards the new year 2024, the Ministry of PUPR has started to build a new bridge in Bantul, DIY, namely the Pandansimo Bridge," wrote the Ministry of PUPR statement on the official Instagram account @kemenpupr, quoted Wednesday, December 27.

According to the plan, the Pandansimo Bridge will be built with a length of about 1,900 meters (m) and consists of a 625-m short road, a 690-m slab on pile and a main bridge with a span of 675 m.

Later, the bridge will be equipped with Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) technology which can reduce earthquakes and be friendly for pedestrians.

For pedestrians who want to enjoy the view of the Progo River, they can walk along the pedestrian lane on the right and left sides of the bridge.

This bridge will be an infrastructure to facilitate mobility and strengthen connectivity between the Bantul Pansela Line and Kulonprogo.

"It is hoped that this bridge can later become an icon of innovation and exploration of the tourism potential of the South Coast Area in DIY," said the Ministry of PUPR.

Thus, the Ministry of PUPR targets the construction of the Pandansimo bridge to be completed by the end of 2024.
