AP I Serves 244 Thousand Passengers At The Peak Of The Christmas Holiday Homecoming Flow

PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) recorded 244,828 passenger movements at 15 airports managed at the peak of the Christmas holiday homecoming flow that occurred on D-3 Christmas. Also, 1,884 aircraft movements.

AP I President Director Faik Fahmi said the number of passenger movements at 15 AP I airports on D-3 Christmas or Friday 22 December was 11 percent higher than the daily average passenger movement on the first 3 days of operation at the Nataru Command Post (19-21 December) which reached 221,046 passenger movements.

AP I mencatat terdapat pertumbuhan jumlah penumpang pada puncak arus mudik libur Natal di tahun ini sebesar 18 persen dibandingkan dengan jumlah penumpang pada puncak arus mudik libur Natal tahun 2022 lalu yang mencapai 207.109 penumpang, katanya dalam keterangan resmi, Minggu, 24 Desember.

"This significant growth is certainly very encouraging in the midst of AP I's operational and financial performance recovery efforts," he continued.

Faik said the potential increase in the number of passengers had been anticipated previously, namely by alerting the Nataru Command Post at 15 AP I airports which will start operating from 19 December to 3 January 2024.

"We also continuously coordinate with various stakeholder agencies to ensure that operations and services during this peak season can run safely, comfortably, smoothly, and safely," he said.

Moreover, continued Faik, the momentum of the Christmas and New Year holidays is also accompanied by school children's holidays, which further triggers high interest and public interest in traveling.

At the peak of the Christmas holiday homecoming flow, AP I recorded 3 airports with the highest number of passenger movements, namely Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport with 72,871 passenger movements, followed by Juanda Airport Surabaya with 49,909 passenger movements, and Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin Airport with 36,284 passenger movements.

"I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali is still the airport with the highest traffic, considering that Bali is still and will always be a favorite tourist destination for people to spend their vacation time," he said.

In fact, Faik said Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is AP I airport with the highest number of passenger movements since the first day of operation of the Christmas and New Year's Command Post on December 19 to 22, which reached 261,559 passenger movements.

In total, 15 AP I airports have served as many as 884,183 passenger movements and 7,059 aircraft movements in the period 19-22 December 2022.

Compared to records in the same period last year, there was a growth of 19 percent for passenger movement and 13 percent for aircraft movement.

As for the realization of extra flights, for the period 19 to 22 December, the realization at 15 AP I airports reached 291 flights.

The top three AP I airports with the most extra flight realizations in this period are I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali with the realization of 89 extra flights, Juanda Airport Surabaya with the realization of 35 extra flights and Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar with the realization of 32 extra flights.
