The Important Role Of Business Sector Accountants In Building The Indonesian Economy

Management of the Business Sector Accounting Compartment (KASB) and the Indonesian Accounting Association (IAI) on the IDX (IDX)

JAKARTA - In the midst of the latest challenges in the Indonesian business world, professional accountants play a central role in assisting business entities in facing increasing complexity.

The dynamics of regulations, expectations from stakeholders to integrate the principles of sustainability in financial reports, to the increasing need for business transparency, require accountant expertise not only to compile accurate financial reports, but also to illustrate the social and environmental impacts of the company.

Therefore, the Indonesian Accountant Association (IAI) formed a Business Sector Accountant Company (KASB) which aims to build a strong synergy between the accounting profession and the business world and is expected to develop IAI's work in increasing transparency and accountability in the business sector through the involvement of professional accountants with a career in the business sector.

On Friday, December 22, the inauguration of the Chairman of KASB IAI Gede Nyoman Yetna and the management of KASB IAI for the period 2023-2027 which took place at the Main Hall of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX).

The inauguration of the chairman and management of KASB IAI plays a strategic role in embracing changes and guiding business sector accountants towards a sustainable future, which in turn will support Indonesia's economic growth.

IDX President Director Iman Rachman said that his party would like to congratulate the formation of KASB IAI and the inauguration of the first complete management arrangement. KASB IAI is one of the IAI achievements needed as a strategic link between industry and professionalism.

Iman Rachman also appreciated the efforts and support that IAI has given to the Indonesian Capital Market so far and hopes that good synergy will continue and be stronger in the future.

Furthermore, this event is also expected to support the capacity building of listed Companies and business sectors in general in the context of accelerating the implementation of Comprehensive Corporate Reporting.

Chairman of the IAI National Management Board Ardan Adipandana said that his party hopes that with the various competencies possessed by the members, KASB IAI can literate and educate the public about the importance of the role of accountants in the capital market and others and be able to create a healthy, transparent, and accountable investment climate.

One of the focuses of KASB IAI is increasing the number of IAI member accountants in the business sector. With more than 30,000 IAI members currently, KASB IAI has a responsibility to ensure the regeneration of accountants with integrity and quality, in accordance with demands for economic sustainability.

Through various programs, KASB IAI will increase the number of IAI members who hold the Chartered Accountant (CA) certification, by cooperating with issuers and business entities in Indonesia.

KASB IAI is not only a new compartment, but also a symbol of commitment to present accountants who are not only able to produce financial reports, but also understand and apply sustainability principles. KASB IAI is also a forum for business sector accountants to gather and discuss to discuss current business issues.

Sustainability Challenges in the Business Accountant Era of the business sector have a crucial role in maintaining economic stability. Through their integrity and competence as professional accountants, they are able to be at the forefront of compiling quality, transparent, and accountable financial reports.

In the context of Indonesia's business, with more than 900 companies listed on the IDX and capital market capital capitalization values reaching more than IDR 11,500 trillion, KASB IAI is faced with a big responsibility to ensure that every financial report generated by a business sector accountant meets the sustainability standards.

Through KASB IAI's pioneering, business sector accountants are expected to become agents of change that inspire future generations, make a real contribution to sustainable economic development, and create a healthy, transparent, and accountable business climate.

Ardan also gave directions for KASB IAI to not only carry out its programs at the center, but also in 34 parts of Indonesia. Collaboration with IAI Regions, other compartments, and related parties is expected to increase understanding and awareness about the role of business sector accountants in building a sustainable economy.

In the digital era, KASB IAI can also optimize the branding of accountants and IAI as a whole, as well as educate the public about the importance of the role of accountants in economic sustainability.

In his remarks after being inaugurated, IDX Director of Corporate Assessment as Chair of KASB IAI Gede Nyoman Yetna said that his party appealed to issuers and companies listed on the IDX to identify eligible accounting and financial human resources (HR), to also be able to participate in building professions, by becoming members of IAI.

"Your membership in IAI will provide optimal benefits for the entities where you work, for the profession, and of course for the development of the Indonesian business and economic sector," he explained.

He also highlighted the importance of Chartered Accountant (CA) certification in ensuring business sector accountants have the qualifications and integrity needed to deal with business sustainability complexity.
