JAKARTA - Secretary General of the National Energy Council (Sekjen DEN) Djoko Siswanto is optimistic that the completion of the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) on National Energy Policy (KEN) will be completed next year.

He said the policy was continuously finalized by the government together with the DPR RI.

According to him, RPP KEN will be completed as soon as 2024, because the roadmap for the completion of the revision of PP KEN starts from 2022 to 2024.

The current position of RPP KEN is waiting for the harmonization of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has sent a letter to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to harmonize this RPP KEN. We just have to wait for the invitation and then it will also be followed up with a DPR working meeting with the government, then with the Panja Commission 7 of the DPR RI then the approval of the DPR RI to the president then the DEN plenary session led by the president to determine the RPP KEN," Djoko said in his statement to the media, Friday, December 22.

He added that the RPP needs to be completed as soon as possible so that it can be used as a reference in national energy management to realize national energy independence and resilience.

RPP KEN, he said, is a renewal of PP Number 79 of 2014 concerning KEN, because there are many adjustments that have not been listed into the PP. Such as the energy transition program to pursue the Net Zero Emission (NZE) achievement target in 2060, which previously did not exist in PP 79/2014.

Then there is also regional expansion, so that it will affect the General Plan for Regional Energy (RUED), which refers to the General Plan for National Energy (RUEN).

"With NZE, we are targeting the New Renewable Energy (EBT) mix in 2060 to increase to 70-72 percent," he said.

For your information, PP 79/2014 contains 6 Chapters and 33 articles, and will be revised into RPP KEN consisting of 8 Chapters with 97 articles.

With the articles, namely, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 concerning general provisions, objectives, and targets; then Chapter 3 concerning main policies and supporting policies; Chapter 4 to Chapter 8 concerning RUEN, coaching and supervision, provisions of transition and other provisions as well as closing provisions.

"In the supporting policy, there is energy availability for national needs as well as regions, priority national energy development and energy reserves, as well as supporting policies. Then there is the provision of electricity and non-electricity, energy exports, and decarbonization," concluded Djoko.
