Regarding The Finding Of Campaign Funds From Illegal Mining, Aspebindo Asks PPATK For Detailed Clarification

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Mineral and Coal Energy Suppliers Association (Aspebindo) has opened its voice regarding the findings of the Financial Transaction and Analysis Reporting Center (PPATK) regarding the flow of campaign funds from illegal mining.

The chairman of Aspebindo, Anggawira, said the truth of this matter still needed to be checked. The reason is that he believes there is unclear information provided by PPATK.

"PPATK must clarify in detail, not just guess whether it flows to individual legislative candidates or to political parties. This must be done so as not to give rise to disinformation," he said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, December 21.

He also asked PPATK to provide detailed information regarding the recipients of funds flowing from illegal mining as well as the names of the companies involved.

He admitted that he was worried about the disinformation generated by PPATK's findings because he considered it could damage the public's perception of mining companies, including legal mining companies under Aspebindo.

"I think it is necessary to immediately clarify what is meant by an illegal mining company, so that there is no dispute. If there is negative news, it will be detrimental to mining entrepreneurs because there is a perception, so it must be cleared up immediately," concluded Anggawira.

Previously, the Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Ivan Yustiavandana, after attending the "Dissemination: Securing the Results of Cross-Border Crime" event in Jakarta, Thursday (14/12), said that reports of suspicious transactions to PPATK had increased by 100 percent, some of which were Some of them are suspected of being related to the crime of money laundering (TPPU) and the 2024 election campaign.

Ivan said that PPATK suspected that there were campaign funds originating from illegal mining, the value of which was estimated at trillions of rupiah.

Therefore, Ivan emphasized that PPATK is committed to continuing to supervise financial transactions related to elections.
