JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the Indonesian government would officially continue thefeedingsh high-speed rail project to Surabaya.
With this project, the distance between Jakarta and the City of Heroes can be reached in just 2 hours.
"You can imagine that the distance between Jakarta Surabaya and 900 kilometers (km) can be reached in approximately two hours. This will be competitive compared to the plane," he said at the Ministry of Transportation's Year-End Press Conference, Wednesday, December 20.
Reflecting on the previous project, namely the Jakarta-Bandung which has succeeded, Budi said he was optimistic that it would be much easier. Given, the government already has experience.
"Jakarta-Bandung has been successful. People with relatively sophisticated services and technology. In terms of Surabaya, we will discuss the basics, it will be easier because we have experienced building a bettersh (Jakarta-Bandung route), so that next time we can do it, God willing," he explained.
Regarding funding to continue the high-speed rail project to Surabaya, Budi admitted that funding would be carried out through a creative financing scheme.
"Because the creative financing will be carried out later together by making a design and we will give the best tender to be the winner," he said.
Project Has Entered The Blue Print Of The Ministry Of Transportation
Previously, Budi stated that the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed rail project had entered the blueprint for the planning of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
"We were ordered to make a blue print from Bandung to Surabaya. Of course what we made is a concept that continues what we have placed on the basis of the transformation of the high-speed train," Budi said during an activity in Surabaya, Antara, Sunday, October 8.
