JAKARTA - The government through the Committee for the Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Provision (KPPIP), the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are making cooperation efforts to optimize economic benefits and sign the development of the Tambourine Area.

This collaboration is realized through the signing of the Record of Discussion (RoD), including to discuss regional development plans and strengthen the framework of the Tambourine area, as well as increase the capacity of the implementation of the Rebana Metropolitan Management Authority (RMMA) in the area.

Deputy for Regional Development and Spatial Planning of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Wahyu Utomo said the development of the Tambourine Area would be consistent with the Indonesian Government's economic development strategy which integrates industrial and infrastructure development plans.

"As well as optimizing the economic impact of the Patimban International Port PSN and the Trans Java toll road, one of the manufacturing infrastructure in the Tambourine Area," Wahyu said in his official statement, Friday, December 8.

Patimban International Port itself is one of the National Strategic Projects located in the Tambourine area of West Java Province and absorbs investment costs of IDR 5.02 trillion and construction costs of IDR 2.45 trillion.

Meanwhile, the Tambourine Area covers 7 regencies/cities, namely Subang Regency, Indramayu Regency, Majalengka Regency, Sumedang Regency, Kuningan Regency, Cirebon Regency, and Cirebon City.

Wahyu conveyed that the regional development policy had been carried out through Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2021 concerning the Acceleration of Development of the Tambourine Area and South West Java, as well as Regulation of the Governor of West Java Number 14 of 2023 concerning the Plan for Action for the Development of the Tambourine Area for 2020-2030.

In line with this policy, the West Java Provincial Government has also formed a Rebana Metropolitan Management Authority (RMMA) or the Management Agency (BP) of the Rebana Metropolitan Area in April 2023.

Wahyu explained that the cooperation in developing the Tambourine Area is targeted to be carried out in 2 years during the period 2024 to 2026, with a focus on optimizing the Patimban International Port PSN in the Rebana area in question.

Through this collaboration in the development of the Tambourine Area, the connectivity of the Patimban International Port to the surrounding industry and region will be stronger and it is hoped that it can have a more significant economic impact on the community not only in the Tambourine Area, but also throughout Indonesia in general, Wahyu explained.
