JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir ensured that state-owned companies continue to support MSME players to advance to class. One of them is through PT Sarinah (Persero).

Erick said Sarinah would soon open MSME outlets in three countries, namely Saudi Arabia, China, and India. The outlet is called Windownesia.

Previously, Sarinah had also opened MSME outlets at Arrival Terminal, Perth Airport TNG Pty Ltd, 2 George Wiecke Drive Perth Airport, Australia.

"Yesterday Sarinah, we opened access (MSME outlets) with the title Windownesia in Perth, Australia. Now we want to open again later if we can be in Saudi Arabia, China and India," said Erick during a press conference for the 2023 MSME Explo Explo in Jakarta, Thursday, December 7.

Erick said MSME products sold at Sarinah outlets abroad must go through the curation process first. This process is to ensure that MSME products traded in the international market have good quality or are equivalent to other global products.

Furthermore, Erick said the verification step was needed because the local product trading scheme used a broken purchase system and not a consignment. This means that quality will be a bet of goods sold.

"We at the Ministry of SOEs through Sarinah also push to Indonesia in Perth. And this buys a break, not a consignment. That's why I said MSMEs must also be curated. Because if people buy and break up, there is a risk of not selling well in other countries," he explained.

"Well, these things we are trying to build, but the collaboration is of course between stakeholders who care about MSMEs, it has to be, earlier continuity, it can't just be the SOEs themselves assigned," he said.
