Will Operate New Mining, ITMG Aims For Production Of 1 Million Tons Of Coal

JAKARTA - PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG) will certainly operate a new coal mine in 2024.

The President Director of ITMG, Mulianto, in his presentation at the Public Expose Live 2023 said ITMG continues to develop new mines, one of which is PT Graha Panca Karsa (GPK). "This concession has a Mining Business License (IUP) with a total area of 5,060 hectares," he said, Thursday, November 30.

From last year until the third quarter of 2023, continued Mulianto, the GPK has made several preparations to start mining operations next year, including land clearing and preparation of port areas and transport roads, starting drilling activities for geotechnic sampling, engineering design, fabrication and determining potential mining locations.

Later, preparatory activities will continue until the GPK begins coal production in 2024.

He further said, on a distance, the location of the GPK mine is 14 km at Bunyut Port and contains 3600 to 3800 Kcal/kg calories with a ash level (ash) in the range of 8-11 percent.

"The GPK also has sulfur which is arguably very good of 0.1-0.2 percent with humidity levels of 36-38," said Mulianto.

With the operation of this mine, he hopes to be able to conduct and produce profiles that we want to do, we hope that we can produce up to 1 million tons of coal by 2024 and will increase gradually by 2025 to 2 million tons and by 2060 it will reach 3 million tons per year.

"Coal produced from the GPK mine will increase the overall volume of ITM production and enrich the quality of ITM's coal, so that it can more meet the needs of various customers," concluded Mulianto.
