Regarding The Prohibition Of Tin Exports, TINS Waits For Government Decree

JAKARTA - PT Timah Tbk (TINS) gave an answer to the plan to ban tin exports that President Joko Widodo had raised several times.

Director of Finance and Risk Management of TINS Fina Eliani said that his party was still waiting for further information and certainty from the government.

"Regarding the ban on exports and downstreaming of tin programs, until now TINS is waiting for further information and certainty from the government, whether this will be implemented immediately or not," he said at the Pubic Exose Live, Tuesday, November 28.

If enforced, he said, TINS already has a subsidiary of PT Timah Industri which is engaged in the downstream industry, confident in producing tin solders and chemicals.

"So the position is currently waiting for further directions and certainty from the government. That's what I can convey," concluded Fina.

Previously, in Jokowi's remarks at the opening of the 2023 Muhammadiyah Youth PP XVIII Congress, he ensured that he would no longer export raw materials. Indonesia was not afraid even though there were those who sued because of this decision.

"After nickel stops, bauxite stops, copper stops, tin stops, like it or not, big companies, big countries will invest here," Jokowi continued.

If companies and big countries invest, the people will benefit. Thus, Indonesia is trying to stop the export of raw goods as has been done so far.

"Do we want to continue exporting raw materials? No. Stop!" he concluded.
