KAI Continues Cooperation With Japanese Train Companies For Procurement Of Train Facilities

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to cooperate with the Japanese train company, East Japan Railways Company (JR East). One of them is related to the procurement of rail facilities and parts.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of railway and non-corruption businesses in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday 27 November.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said this memorandum of understanding will take effect one year until December 31, 2024. With a scope of cooperation, including education and training, procurement of rail facilities and parts, and transit-oriented development.

Then, the exchange of human resources (HR) that is an expert based on demand, exchange of information and resolution of railway problems and other related fields.

This memorandum of understanding is an update to the cooperation that has been carried out in previous years. KAI Group continues to synergize with world-class companies, one of which is JR East, which has experience in the field of Japanese railways with a very good reputation for safety, service and timeliness," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, November 28.

Didiek said this collaboration is very important for the development of human resources in the KAI Group related to the implementation of the railway safety system in Indonesia. In addition, the development of human resources also continues to be carried out to support the workforce needs of Indonesian and Japanese railway operators.

"One of the concerns of the KAI Group with this MoU is the KAI Group trying to continue to improve the safety of train travel, one of which is from the facility maintenance sector," he said.

According to Didiek, the establishment of good collaboration between KAI Group and JR East will further strengthen the rail facilities maintenance system in Indonesia so that it remains reliable.

Through this MoU, KAI Group is committed to continuing to build transportation that is efficient, environmentally friendly, affordable by the community, and taking into account the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

"Hopefully this MoU can provide added value for KAI and JR East. This collaboration is also expected to be able to support KAI's efforts in improving KAI's HR skills and running trains with zero accidents, so that more and more people use trains as their flagship transportation," he said.
