Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that Abu Dhabi Port has expressed interest in managing the Container Terminal at Patimban Port, Subang Regency, West Java.

During his working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Budi held a meeting with Abu Dhabi CEO Port Saif Al Mazrouei to discuss further interest in the port manager.

"We appreciate and thank the Abu Dhabi Port, which has expressed interest in developing the Patimban Port," he said in an official statement, Sunday, November 26.

Budi said the Ministry of Transportation together with the Patimban International Port (PPI) as the operator of Patimban Port, is indeed looking for strategic partners who have the ability and capacity to manage international ports and have a global network.

Furthermore, Budi explained that PPI had received a proposal to offer cooperation from Abu Dhabi Port.

"Some things are still being negotiated. Hopefully it can provide the best mutually beneficial offers," he said.

During the meeting, Budi also told the Abu Dhabi Port that Patimban Port is the first supply chain port in Indonesia that is integrated with existing industrial areas around the port (hinterland).

"The Indonesian government is fully committed to making the existence of the Patimban Port can provide the maximum benefit to the community and can increase the nation's competitiveness," he said.
