Regarding Meger Angkasa Pura, Erick Thohir Makes Sure There Are No Employee Layoffs

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed the latest news related to the merger or merger of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) and PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). He ensured that the merger would not have an impact on employee layoffs.

Erick also gave an example of the same thing that was done in Pelindo. He said the merger was going well and had no impact on employee layoffs.

"Our experience of merging Pelindo must also ensure that the perception does not seem as if we are merging the release of employees, even though it is not. The proof is that Pelindo has not released its employees," he said when met at the Ministry of SOEs Building, Jakarta, Thursday, November 23.

When asked when the merger process was completed, Erick admitted that he could not say for sure. He said the most difficult thing about the merger of Angkasa Pura I and II was a document problem.

"I don't know yet (when it's finished). We're pushing it. Mergers sometimes work for a long time," he said.

Erick also revealed that this merger was carried out so that the system and services of all airports throughout Indonesia could be equalized.

"Why do we also do this merger? To equalize the system and services and the concept of airports in the future," he said.

Previously reported, Erick Thohir revealed that apart from business efficiency, the purpose of the merger was to strengthen the domestic airport industry infrastructure. According to him, it is time for airports in Indonesia to advance to class at the global level.

"Efficiency rather than building industrial infrastructure from airports we have to improve our class," he said.

Moreover, continued Erick, several airports in Indonesia are starting to overcapacity. Especially in Jakarta and Bali. Erick also predicts that airports close to tourist attractions will experience the same thing.

The airport that is considered overcapacity is Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta). Then, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.

"If we look now in Jakarta itself after COVID-19 has started to overcapacity, Bali is also starting to overcapacity, especially if we look at Mandalika, Labuan Bajo becomes very potential, so we have to improve it or not," he explained.
