JAKARTA - The government continues to strive to realize Indonesia Gold's 2045 vision through national infrastructure development which includes toll roads, airports, trains, ports, dams, and downstreaming, including for electric vehicles and IKN development.

The concrete efforts from the government are to encourage the development of standardization, namely by providing convenience for MSMEs to obtain certificates.

As a form of Government appreciation for business actors who consistently apply SNI and have extraordinary and superior performance, the government through the National Standardization Agency awarded the SNI Award.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said, along with increasing public needs and understanding of product quality, producers are also required to produce products that have competitiveness.

This makes the role of the standard even more crucial.

Standardization is also part of a large ecosystem of National Quality Infrastructure which includes Standardization, Metrology, and Accreditation.

Currently, at least 2,998 Assessment Agencies (LPK) are active in conducting activities related to standardization ranging from testing, inspection, to certification.

"Standardization plays a major role, especially since it has been set by more than 14,817 SNI by the National Standardization Agency," said Airlangga Hartarto in his statement Friday, November 17.

Reporting from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), there are 4 factors driving change that will affect future standardization, including economic factors such as the evolution of trading systems, new business models, and interdependence in global supply chains.

Then the emergence of technological factors such as AI developments and other technologies, which promote efficiency and productivity.

Furthermore, there is an influence from community factors such as demographic changes and populations.

Finally, environmental factors that include climate change, natural disasters, and the depletion of natural resource reserves.

"These factors will affect the future standardization so that it needs to be anticipated by relevant stakeholders," said Airlangga.

The awarding of the SNI Award is part of encouraging the implementation of SNI by business actors.

Through the SNI Award, it is hoped that producers, consumers, and the general public will increasingly appreciate quality aspects.

The SNI Award winner is also expected to be a role model for business actors so that SNI can be used more widely.
