RUPTL Will Soon Be Completed, Director General Of Gatrik: Selaras And Waras

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Electricity together with PT PLN (Persero) is working on the revision of the 2021-2030 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) and is in the discussion stage of the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN).

Direktur Jenderal Keteagalistrikan (Gatrix) Jisman P Hutajulu menjelaskan, pembahasan RUKN dan RUPTL dipastikan hampir selesai dan selaras dengan strategi jangka panjang ketenagalan RI.

"There has been discussions with the RUPTL, it turns out that in line there are even terms in harmony and sane," said Jisman in his presentation at the opening of the 78th National Electricity Day Exhibition at ICE BSD City, Tuesday, November 14.

Jisman added that the need for electricity from 2024 to 2060 is expected to grow by an average of 3.6 to 4.2 percent per year.

"The production of electricity needs will determine the amount of additional needs for power plants and infrastructure for the provision of other electricity and the amount of CO2 emissions," continued Jisman.

Jisman also projects electricity consumption per capita in 2060 to reach 4000 kilowatt hour (kWh) in low scenarios, 5000 kWh for high scenarios and 4500 kwh for moderate scenarios.

Electricity demand in 2060 is also projected to be dominated by the industrial sector by 47 percent, followed by the household sector at 21 percent, the business sector at 15 percent, electric vehicles at 7 percent and green hydrogen production facilities for the industrial and transportation sectors at 4 percent.

Jisman added that the projected demand for electricity has also taken into account electricity needs in Industrial Estates (KI), Special Economic Zones (KEK), smelters, Maritime Affairs and Integrated Fisheries Centers (SKPT), and Priority Tourism Destinations (DPP).

Lebhih far away from Jisman explained, in 2060 as much as 88 percent of electricity production is estimated to come from EBT with details of 23 percent of new energy and 65 percent of renewable energy.

"Future energy producers will be dominated by various renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, sea, hydropower, bioenergy, geothermal, ammonia and hydrogen," concluded Jisman.
