Residents On Six Riau Islands Remote Islands Island Enjoy PLN Green Electricity

PT PLN (Persero) has successfully operated a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) to illuminate six front islands in the Riau Islands, namely Pulau Panjang, Pulau Geranging, Pulau Akar, Pulau Jaga, Pulau Sebung and Pulau Nuja.

The Governor of the Riau Islands, H Ansar Ahmad, said that the presence of this PLTS further strengthens the electricity system in the Riau Islands. Therefore, the Riau Islands Provincial Government appreciates the collaboration of PLN which continues to deliver reliable electricity through the development of new and renewable energy plants. "With the acceleration of the development of new and renewable energy through the development of PLTS, electrification in this province has now exceeded 99 percent," said Ansar.

Member of Commission VII DPR RI Asman Abnur said that the presence of PLTS was a breakthrough to build environmentally friendly electricity infrastructure in the Riau Islands. In addition, the existence of this PLTS will be able to meet the electricity needs of the islands in the Riau Islands.

This is a phenomenal project, namely the Solar Power Pengangitit on the front islands. This is a solution where previously the islands were pitch black now. Appreciation to PLN for the supply of green electricity, hopefully PLN will continue to be a role model in the energy transition program and continue to provide the best service to the community," said Asman.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo emphasized that the presence of PLTS is PLN's commitment to continue to bring reliable and clean electricity to all corners of the country. Darmawan said that PLN's enthusiasm for realizing a national electricity system that is independent, reliable and clean is aligned with the concept of building green energy in order to pursue the Net Zero Emissions target by 2060.

PLN is very aware that electricity has become a primary need for the people of Indonesia. But we are also committed to providing clean energy to support the energy transition in Indonesia," said Darmawan.

Darmawan added, currently PLN has built a technology-based mapping system, which is able to see which areas are already and have not yet been electrified in Indonesia. PLN builds digital mapping that is integrated with projected electricity needs for the future.

"On this year's National Electricity Day moment, it became more special, because we also managed to electrify remote islands in the Riau Islands. People in the 3T area (stayed, frontier and outermost) can now enjoy reliable and quality and environmentally friendly electricity," he added.

General Manager of PLN Riau and Riau Islands Distribution Main Unit (UIDRKR) Agung Murdifi explained, PLN is currently successfully completing the construction of PLTS in 6 (six) islands spread across the Riau Islands with a capacity of 775 Kilowatt Peak (kWp) to electrify 897 potential customers.

With the current achievements of PLN, Agung said, as the heart of development, growth and economic wheels, PLN will continue to provide its best efforts in lighting up the whole country.

PLN is here to provide fair electricity to isolated areas as well as for 3T areas. Geographical conditions and limited infrastructure do not dampen PLN officers to complete the construction of electricity infrastructure for communities on 6 islands spread across the Riau Islands," said Agung.
