JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (NFA) has collaborated on strengthening food synergy with retail business actors which is also the key to the growth of the food industry.

"The existence of retailers is an important and inseparable part of the national food supply chain. For this reason, the stronger the food retail sector will certainly be able to encourage a healthy national food ecosystem and continue to grow as emphasized by the Head of NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi on various occasions," said Deputy for Food Insecurity and Nutrition. NFA Nyoto Suwignyo in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday 12 November.

Deputy Nyoto said that so far NFA continues to synergize with retailers in supporting the availability of food and SPHP (Food Supply and Price Stability) which is able to increase national economic enthusiasm.

In distributing the SPHP program rice, NFA together with Perum Bulog also actively through modern retail routes such as Ramayana, Indomaret, Alfamart, Hypermart, Superindo, and Lotte. The price of SPHP rice is consistent at a maximum price of Rp. 10,900 per kg with a maximum purchase limit of 2 packages per customer.

As a result of efforts to intensify the disbursement of SPHP rice to all market lines, the price of medium rice at the consumer level began to decline gradually. On October 1, the average price for all provinces for medium rice was at Rp. 13,220 per kg and experienced a depreciation of 30 points on November 10 to Rp. 13,190 per kg.

Furthermore, Nyoto explained that there was cooperation between NFA and retailers in terms of food quality security supervision, mainly related to Fresh Food from Plantation (PSAT).

"NFA together with retail business actors always ensures the safety of the PSAT that is traded. This is done in the form of conducting direct supervision and checking the fulfillment of food safety and quality standards. NFA always encourages retailers to choose suppliers who already have a PSAT distribution permit and do not trade PSAT products that do not accompany their identities in their packaging," explained Nyoto.

Not only that, NFA also invites retail businesses to prevent food waste. This is because 1.3 billion tons of food or the equivalent of one-third of the food produced is wasted every year. In fact, it has the potential to be utilized for around 61-125 million people or 29-47 percent of the Indonesian population.

"Therefore, we want to invite all retail business actors, especially those engaged in the food sector to help campaign for the 'Food Boros Stop' movement. This can be done by attaching an appeal in the form of a flyer, advertisement or other creative media in their respective places of business," he said.
