This Week, Teten Masduki Will Meet With Tiktok CEO

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (MenKopUKM) Teten Masduki said he would meet Tiktok CEO Shou Zi Chew this week. Previously, the discourse of this meeting had been planned since last week. However, it has not been realized because of the tight agenda of Minister Teten in recent times.

"This week's plan. I was busy yesterday," said Teten Masduki to the media at the Bidakara Hotel, Tuesday, November 7.

Teten said this meeting was the first time after the TikTok application followed the regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 31 of 2023 by closing sales services or TikTok Shop last month.

However, Teten has not been able to tell whether a meeting with TikTok CEO will discuss the re-operation of the TikTok SHop service.

"We don't know yet, we'll listen first," he said.

For information, Ceo TikTok Shou Chew previously wrote to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) after the closure of TikTok Shop in Indonesia.

In addition, Teten also asked the Instagram (IG) platform to take down the sales account of used clothes or clothes originating from illegal imports.

"We have asked the IG to take down, all global platforms for them also follow Indonesian government regulations," said Teten.

Teten conveyed that the sale of illegal imported clothes was part of the smuggling activity. Thus, sellers and platform providers can be punished.

"Because trading illegal goods is a criminal act," said Teten.

Therefore, Teten asked Instagram or other platforms that provide sales of illegal used imported clothes to follow the applicable legal rules in Indonesia by taking down the sales account of used imported clothes.

"So, they can no longer dodge that it's not a matter of the platform. They do business here they have to follow the rules of law in Indonesia. They have to take down, because selling illegal goods on the platform has a big impact," concluded Teten.
