Imbas Elnino, 12,400 Tons Of Rice From Thailand Is Now Strengthening North Sulawesi's Stock

MANADO - A total of thousands of tons of rice have arrived at Bitung Port, Manado, which is the largest port in North Sulawesi.

Perum Bulog Divre North Sulawesi and Gorontalo (Sulutgo) imported 12,400 tons of rice from Thailand to strengthen food stocks in North Sulawesi.

"Recently, 12,400 tons of rice has been dismantled at Bitung Port from Thailand and entered Bulog Warehouse," said Public Operations and Services Manager Muchamad Yatsir, in Manado, Friday.

He said the rice stock in Bulog's warehouse was sufficient to meet consumer demand in North Sulawesi.

"The public does not need to worry because the rice stock in Bulog's warehouse has the resilience in the next few months," he explained, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 28.

In addition, he said, in the near future 6,600 tons of rice will enter from Thailand.

He explained that this rice from Thailand only has a 'broken' of five percent or it can be said to be of good quality.

North Sulawesi, he said, was not a rice production center, so it had to be supplied from other regions, but this time because of the hot weather conditions caused by elnino, farmers' production was reduced, so the government had to import rice.

Bulog, he said, would try to provide sufficient basic materials to meet the needs of the community, so that prices in the market remained stable.
