JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is developing the implementation of the Smart Fisheries Village (SFV) program in Panembangan Village, Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.
The development of the SFV is to increase productivity and quality of fisheries produced by the community, as well as make the Panembangan area a pilot for smart fishing villages in Indonesia.
"With its potential, the central government will cooperate with local governments and the involvement of the Panembangan community to increase the economic scale of the village community through increasing productivity and quality," said Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (Minister of KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono in a written statement, quoted Thursday, October 26.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Maritime and Fisheries Human Resources Counseling and Development Agency (BPPSDM KP) I Nyoman Radiarta said that the implementation of the SFV program in Panembangan has been proven to increase people's income.
The revenue of the main fishery business actors in the village increased from the previous Rp500 thousand per month to Rp2.6 million per month. The success of Panembangan Village as SFV so far cannot be separated from the important role of fishery instructors since 2022.
"With comprehensive assistance from fishery instructors, the Panembangan SFV program can increase community productivity through optimizing the use of land for fishery activities to creating new sources of income. Of course, development will continue to be carried out," he said.
Nyoman said that increasing the use of technology in fishery cultivation and increasing knowledge about fishery businesses also had a positive impact on the community, the main actor in the fisheries sector in Panembangan Village.
In addition, this village has also developed into a fishery educational tourism destination, by providing informal education for visitors who want to understand more about the world of fisheries.
Meanwhile, PJ Banyumas Regent Hanung Cahyo Saputro expressed his support for developing the SFV of Panembangan Village.
