Trenggono Meets Fishermen And Fisheries Business Actors, Promises PIT Program To Give Profits

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that the Quota-based Measurable Fish Fishing (PIT) rule will later favor fishermen and domestic fisheries business actors.

That way, fishermen and perpetrators should be asked to prepare requirements and adjust to this latest regulation.

This was revealed by Minister Trenggono when he met dozens of fishermen and fisheries business actors who were members of the United Fishermen Front (FNB) organization at the KKP Office, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 18.

"I make sure the fishing quota is mainly for fishermen and domestic fisheries business actors. Therefore, I ask my friends to be ready with this new fishing mechanism. The permit, PNBP obligations, equipment such as VMS, I hope everything will be completed," said Minister Trenggono in his official statement, Thursday, October 19.

Trenggono said this policy was implemented for the advancement of the capture fisheries sector and also maintaining ecological sustainability.

The KKP has issued Minister of Marine Affairs Regulation (Permen KP) and Fisheries Number 28 of 2023 as derivatives of Government Regulation (PP) Number 11 of 2023 concerning Measurable Fishing.

The KKP also issued Men-KP Circular No. 1569 concerning the Implementation Stage of the Measurable Fish Fishing Policy on October 2.

Regarding the quota for arrests for a year, said Trenggono, the mechanism is business actors who will apply for the amount. The submission process is carried out online so that it is effective and efficient.

Meanwhile, Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) that must be paid by business actors later is based on the catch, not based on quota.

"If the one-year quota is 100 thousand tons, for example, then what 80 thousand tons get, yes, it means that the PNBP is paid 80 thousand tons," he said.

Meanwhile, General Chairperson of the United Fishermen Front, Kajidin, welcomed the plan to carry out measured fishing based on quotas at the beginning of next year.

He hopes that its implementation will be carried out as well as possible so that the goal of improving the welfare of fishermen, reviving the fisheries industry, and maintaining ecological sustainability can be achieved.

Kajidin also appreciated Minister Trenggono who wanted to go directly to convey the PIT subtance to fishermen and business actors. He admitted that fishermen and business actors do not yet fully know the mechanism for implementing PIT.

"The PIT program is very good if it is implemented properly. All regulations must be made for good. The hope is that the KKP will be open in accordance with its commitment that the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is the Minister of Fisheries to advance fishermen. FNB will always speak up if it feels that there are things that need to be voiced," he said.
