JAKARTA - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) continues to aggressively add a fleet of tankers over the past 4 years.

Until 2025, PIS is targeted to have 130 tankers.

"The addition of a fleet of tankers is carried out to strengthen the energy distribution and national energy security, as well as the company's expansion in the global market for non-capture markets," said PIS Corporate Secretary Muh Aryomekka Firdaus, Tuesday, October 17.

Aryomekka added, PIS recorded an additional 11 tankers from 2019 to September 2023.

Of the 11 ships, two of them are the Pertamina Pride and Pertamina Prime Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) ship which was built independently and its inauguration was witnessed by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir in early 2021.

"The Pertamina Gas Amaryllis ship is Indonesia's first fuel dual tanker, and is a form of PIS's commitment to supporting the government's energy transition program," said Aryomekka.

The addition of this tanker fleet, said Aryomekka, in addition to being PIS' contribution to Pertamina Group's growth is also in line with the mandate of SOE Minister Erick Thohir to Go Global.

Where the new PIS fleets are also encouraged to meet international standards to be able to sail abroad. Considering that currently PIS ships are recorded to have sailed on 26 international routes.

"Indonesia that goes global is the vision and initiative of SOEs. We believe SOEs have the potential to grow in the international business landscape and contribute significantly to Indonesia's economic growth," said Erick.
