Viral Customer Tweets Use Fake Meters To Fine IDR 33 Million, PLN Opens Voice

PT PLN (Persero) has opened its voice about a viral tweet from a PLN customer on channel X. Customers with the account name @sonialimouss said that he was fined Rp. 33 million for using an illegal seal.

Responding to the post, Cengkareng UP3 Manager, Faisal Risa said that his party had carried out procedures while carrying out Electricity Usage Control (P2TL) in August 2023.

The objection hearing was held on October 12, 2023, led by a team from the Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and attended by customer representatives with the results of customer objections being rejected. Customers have paid 30 percent of the down payment for the follow-up bill on October 13, 2023 and the rest will be displaced. After carrying out the stage, the new customer said that in 2016 he had asked individuals to replace the kWh meter without going through PLN.

"The PLN's authority and responsibility start from the generator to kWh meter, so the kWh meter belongs to PLN and routinely PLN checks kWh meter to ensure kWh meter normal as part of protection for customer safety itself," said Faisal in a statement to VOI, Saturday, October 14.

He also said that PLN customers are prohibited from making fun of even changing the kWh meter of PLN installed in the customer's house. If there is a disturbance in the kWh meter, customers can contact PLN through the PLN Mobile application for checking.

"During the examination, the officers found abnormalities in the kWh meter and seal. For further examination, the kWh meter was taken by officers and tested in the lab witnessed by customers," continued Faisal.

Faisal also said that from the results of the examination in the laboratory, it was concluded that there was a violation, namely affecting kWh meter which belongs to PLN.

Just so you know, P2TL is a program from PLN to check kWh meter and PLN's electricity network that is installed in customer homes. The goal is to maintain customer safety by ensuring kWh meter works normally.

The danger of electricity can occur if the kWh meter has been hit by criticism because the function of the kWh meter is a barrier and a measuring of the electricity entering the house. If the electric current entering the house exceeds the capacity, electric hazards such as short circuits may occur and result in fatal to the fire.
