PT PLN (Persero) signed a cooperation agreement with PT XL Axiat to supply and monitor the use of electricity from the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower owned by XL Axiata.
PLN's Retail and Commerce Director Edi Srimulyanti said, through this partnership the two companies will optimize the use of digitalization and automation of technology that is owned with the aim of improving public services. The hope is that the integration of product services will both be able to have a positive impact on the company's business.
PLN will provide support for XL Axiata network infrastructure through the provision of electricity and all supporting technology for the BTS XL Axiata tower. Edi explained that PLN's electricity supply for the BTS XL Axiata tower will be equipped with AMI and AMR. Both technologies will help increase the accuracy of electricity consumption and make it easier for XL Axiata to monitor the use of kWh in all BTS towers.
Based on existing data, 150 thousand towers or 98 percent of BTS XL Axiata towers have been connected to the PLN infrastructure network. The ecosystem now serves around 58 million customers.
He added that PLN and XL Axiata are also exploring opportunities for other collaborations related to the supply of green electricity for XL Axiata. PLN offers innovations for PLN green products in the form of REnewable Energy Certificate which can support XL Axiata's energy transition program. It is recorded that more than 300 corporate buyers have invested in their green electricity needs through the PLN REC.
