JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower Anwar Sanusi said, to face the increasingly rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), Indonesia needs superior human resources (HR).

Anwar said that AI is a challenge in itself, especially regarding preparing superior Indonesian human resources to adapt quickly.

Even so, Anwar said that the rapid development of AI in Indonesia also brings benefits, especially in the employment sector.

"For this reason, upskilling and reskilling are needed to improve HR skills in dealing with developments in AI technology," said Anwar in an official statement, Monday, October 2.

Anwar explained that AI technology can increase efficiency and productivity. Meanwhile, on the other hand, it can replace some of the work previously done by humans. This can lead to a reduction in workforce in several sectors.

"However, AI technology also opens up new opportunities for jobs in the technology sector, such as data analysts, data scientists and machine learning engineers," he said.

Anwar added, although AI technology can replace some human jobs, it opens up new opportunities in the technology sector.

"Therefore, companies must develop new skills to compete in an increasingly advanced digital era," he concluded.
