Wanti-wanti Soal Perubahan Iklim, Jokowi: Ada Dampak Crisis Pangan

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that Indonesia needs to be aware of the threat of climate change that is happening. The reason is, this threat is increasingly real. This can be seen from the temperature of the earth to the increasingly hot weather.

"Be careful. Be careful. The threat of climate change is real and we have felt it, felt all countries in the world. The temperature of the earth is getting hotter, the weather is also getting hotter," Jokowi said at the EBT Environment-Iklim-Energy EBT (LIKE) Festival at the Indonesia Arena, GBK Complex, Jakarta, monitored online, Monday, September 18.

With this climate change, said Jokowi, many countries in the world are now experiencing drought, including Indonesia.

"Finally, what is it? There is a food crisis. Some countries lack food, be it wheat, be it rice," he said.

Jokowi said, usually there are 19 countries that export rice. However, due to climate change factors, as many as 19 countries have to stop their rice exports.

"What are usually countries exporting rice, 19 countries have now stopped sending exports, not exported anymore, so that many countries have increased rice prices, including in Indonesia, have increased slightly," he said.

Therefore, the head of state again reminded the entire community to remain careful. "Be careful about this," he said.

In addition, Jokowi revealed that the food crisis also caused environmental damage. Thus, he asked environmental activists, traditional leaders, and extension workers to further intensify forest rehabilitation.

"Repair of the forest. The government together with the community will start. Later when the rainy season comes all the trees are planting trees. Agree? Also be careful because the hot ice on the poles melts and sea level water rises," he said.

"Our small islands have been affected. Many small islands in the Pacific Islands have been lost. Be careful. Therefore, I invite those on the coast to clean mangroves again on our coasts," concluded Jokowi.
