Inject Dead Coal PLTU, Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources: Need A 3 Ministerial Agreement

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif said that there needs to be approval from three ministers regarding the plan to kill the Coal Steam Power Plant (PLTU) in Indonesia.

Arifin said that the plan to inject the PLTU needed an agreement of at least 3 ministers, namely the Minister of Finance (Menkeu), the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"Early retirement is being prepared. It needs approval from 3 ministers later, namely the Minister of Finance, BUMN, and ESDM. We are still preparing it," he said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Jakarta, Friday, September 8.

Arifin said that the plan to kill the PLTU in the country will get low funding.

He said that one of the funding came from the initiation of state-of-the-art funding, such as the United States and Japan in the Just Energy Transition Program (JETP).

"Later, there will be a cheap source of funds that can be taken by an entity by a cheap fund. So that his age can be shortened later. Yes, it is (a source of funding) from JETP," he said.

For your information, the government is currently exploring plans to kill the Cirebon-1 PLTU and PelTU Pelabuhan Ratu.

Based on the plan, the lethal injection was funded through the Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) mechanism.

PLTU Cirebon-1 is included in the list of pilot projects or test cases injecting dead chosen by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said, when the coal power plant is turned off, it will become a stalled asset for PLN.

He said, when the asset could no longer be used, the government had to fill it with renewable energy (EBT).
