PM Albanese: ASEAN Sentralization Is Important For Australia's Future

JAKARTA Australian Prime Minister (PM) Anthony Albanese stated that the existence of ASEAN has an important meaning for his country. He said Australia has a lot of understanding with the organization in the Southeast Asia region.

ASEAN's decentrality is vital for Australia's future. ASEAN and Australia are more than geographical closeness. We share various same understandings about the opportunities in this region and share the responsibility to create strong stability and prosperity in every country," he said in a series of ASEAN Summits in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 6.

According to Albanese, his presence at the ASEAN forum this time shows Australia's commitment to strengthening relations that have existed so far.

We want to improve economic relations for generations and also how we can see opportunities to work together further for the future.

Albanese added that synergy to build peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region is important to realize all these ideals.

"ASEAN is expected to be the fourth largest economic zone in the world. Therefore, we want to build a strong foundation," he stressed.

On that occasion, Albanese conveyed $ 95.4 million in support to ASEAN to strengthen various cooperation initiatives in the region. He said, it was stated that there were three targets that were a priority, namely strengthening public relations, strengthening trade relations, and exchanging students as a form of soft-diplomacy.
