Ministry Of PUPR Builds 1.55 Million Decent Housing Units During 2015-2022

JAKARTA - Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Diana Kusumastuti said the Ministry of PUPR had built around 1.55 million housing units for the community from 2015 to 2022.

"The Ministry of PUPR since the cabinet era of President Joko Widodo in 2015-2022 has built or facilitated as many as 1,553,459 residential units," Diana said at the Indonesia Housing Forum 2023 which was monitored online, on Wednesday, August 30.

Diana, who represented the remarks of the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, said that out of a total of 1.55 million decent houses, the Ministry of PUPR has built 60,511 units of flats, 33,205 special housing units, and 36,056 units of New Development Assistance (PB) for self-help houses.

Then, the Ministry of PUPR also provided Quality Improvement (PK) assistance to 1,245,991 self-help housing units, and Infrastructure Assistance, Facilities, and Utilities (PSU) for 177,696 public housing units.

In addition, the Ministry of PUPR also distributed housing financing assistance through Housing Financing Liquidity Facilitation (FLPP) as many as 808,475 units, Down Payment Assistance Subsidy (SBUM) as many as 1.23 million units, Interest Difference Subsidy (SSB) as many as 805,506 units, and Savings-Based Housing Financing Assistance (BP2BT) as many as 30,402 units.

"The development of housing and residential infrastructure by the Ministry of PUPR is carried out by taking into account aspects of gender equality, including access for people with disabilities, the elderly, and children," said Diana.

As for the construction of livable houses by the Ministry of PUPR in accordance with the constitutional mandate, which is as stated in Article 28 H of the 1945 Constitution, it reads that everyone has the right to live in prosperity and physically, to live in a good and healthy environment and has the right to receive health services.

The guarantee of residential rights is also reaffirmed in Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights and Law Number 1 of 2011 concerning Housing and Settlement Areas that the provision of decent residential access for the community has an important role.

Referring to this, the needs of Indonesian citizens' homes are guaranteed by the constitution.
