JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the arrangement of the Tamansuruh Tourism Agro Area (AWT) in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. AWT's revitalization carries the concept of Osing Village by presenting the original Banyuwangi traditional house building.
The concept of revitalizing the Tamansuruh Tourism Agro is adjusted to the function of tourism objects that utilize the agricultural sector combined with environmental and cultural sustainability.
"For tourism, first, the infrastructure must be improved, then amenities and new events for massive promotions. If it is not ready, tourists come once and will not come again. That is what we must take care of properly," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in his official statement, on Monday, August 28.
The arrangement of the Tamansuruh Tourism Agro area is carried out by the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center of the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR since September 2021 and is completed at the end of 2022.
The concept of structuring itself prioritizes the combination of local wisdom and the use of technology with the support of traditional activities and routine cultural attractions. There is also a digital library and the Smart Kampung activity room without eliminating the original identity of the Tamansuruh Agrotourism as a flower garden and storefront for superior agricultural commodities in Banyuwangi Regency.
In addition to revitalizing traditional houses, arrangement is also carried out by increasing access roads and parking, core buildings in the form of large halls surrounded by fish ponds, as well as the construction of other tourism supporting infrastructure, such as ticketing, pedestrians, MSME kiosks, dance studios, Plaza Osing, view decks, prayer rooms, toilets, ground water tanks, to fire protection.
In the future, visitors will be treated to the view of the Ijen mountains and the Bali Strait from an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level (masl).

The existence of the traditional house of the Osing Tribe is also a special attraction for visitors because the building has special characteristics and there are photo spots that are very interesting with backgrounds of various kinds of flower and fruit plants.
The Osing traditional house has a main structure with four columns supporting a building called Soko. The use of wood materials with the best quality and flower planting around the Osing House adds to the distinctive nuances of Banyuwangi cultural authenticity.
"It is hoped that this agro-tourism revitalization program can increase domestic or foreign tourist visits, thereby improving the economy of the local community," said Basuki.
