The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance is said to have succeeded in collecting value added tax (VAT) in trading through electronic systems (PMSE) or digital taxes of IDR 13.87 trillion until July 31, 2023.
Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations of DGT Dwi Astuti said the tax revenue came from 139 PMSE business actors.
"This amount comes from IDR 731.4 billion in deposits in 2020, IDR 3.90 trillion in deposits in 2021, IDR 5.51 trillion in deposits in 2022, and IDR 3.73 trillion in deposits in 2023," he said in a written statement today, Wednesday, August 9.
According to Dwi, last month the government appointed two new PMSE as VAT collections, namely Salesforce.com Singapore Pte. Ltd. and Grammarly, Inc. Thus, as many as 158 PMSE have been appointed by the government until July 31, 2023.
"In addition to the appointment of two PMSEs, the government has also corrected the data elements in the decision letter for the appointment of Audible Ltd.," he said.
Dwi explained, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 60/PMK.03/2022, business actors who have been appointed as collectors are required to collect VAT at a rate of 11 percent for foreign digital products they sell in Indonesia. Meanwhile, collection is also required to make proof of VAT collection which can be in the form of commercial invoices, billing, order receipts, or other similar documents that mention VAT collection and payment has been made.
"In the future, to continue to create justice and equality of business or level playing field for business actors, both conventional and digital, the government will continue to appoint PMSE business actors who sell products and provide digital services from abroad to consumers in Indonesia," he said.
Furthermore, Dwi revealed that the criteria for business actors who can be appointed as PMSE VAT collections are those whose transaction value with Indonesian buyers has exceeded Rp600 million a year or Rp50 million a month and/or the number of traffic in Indonesia has exceeded 12,000 a year or a thousand a month.
