Minister Basuki Ensures GBK IMS Is Ready To Be Used For The FIBA World Cup, Here's What He Says

JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) ensured that the Indonesia Arena or Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) is ready to be used for the FIBA World Cup match on August 25, September-10, 2023.

Meanwhile, Indonesia was chosen as the host along with Japan and the Philippines.

"In my opinion (the facilities) are optimal (for FIBA matches)," said Basuki when met by reporters after inaugurating the IMS at GBK, Jakarta, on Monday, August 7.

Basuki said France was the first country to try out the multifunctional stage in the near future.

"It can be used. On August 25 (August) there is France playing for the first time here (GBK IMS)," he said.

Even so, Basuki did not deny that his party would carry out further optimization, if there were still shortcomings.

This is because the PUPR Ministry itself is still responsible for the maintenance of the IMS for the next six months.

"The problem is that there are 180 days or six months of contractor maintenance. So, if there is something missing (it can be repaired later)," he added.

For your information, IMS is located in Block 10 of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan area, Jakarta, with an area of 31,826 m2 belonging to the Ministry of State Secretariat under the management of PPKGBK.

The building is 50,398 m2 and can accommodate a spectator capacity of more than 16,000 people.

The IMS development was carried out by PT Adhi Karya-PT Nindya Karya-PT Penta (KSO) with a budget sourced from the APBN through the 2021-2023 Multi Years Contract Contract (MYC) scheme worth IDR 640.4 billion.
