JAKARTA - The Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road Section 2 Cigombong-Cibadak was finally inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today. The construction of this toll road cost Rp3.2 trillion.

During the inauguration, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil.

With the completion of this road, the travel time from Jakarta to Sukabumi, which previously took 5-6 hours, can now be accelerated to about 2.5 hours.

The Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road consists of 4 sections with a total length of 54 kilometers (km). To date, Section 1 Ciawi-Cigombong along 15.35 km has been operating since December 2018. Section 2 Cigombong-Cibadak, which was inaugurated before, has been used to facilitate the flow of Lebaran homecoming on 15 April-1 May 2023.

Then, two other sections, namely Section 3 Cibadak-West Sukabumi with a length of 13.70 km with land acquisition progress reaching 86 percent, and Section 4 of the Sukabumi Barat-Sukabumi segment with a length of 13.05 km with a land acquisition progress of 9.9 percent.

"We hope that until Section 3 Cibadak-West Sukabumi can be completed by the end of 2024, it means that it has passed a severe congestion point at Cibadak Market," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono through his official statement, on Friday, August 4.

On the same occasion, Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Miftachul Munir said, after Section 2 was operated, Section 3 of the Cibadak-West Sukabumi section would continue. This can be a solution for congestion from or towards Sukabumi, even to the Queen Port on the South Coast of Java.

"After being inaugurated, the Cigombong-Cibadak section will be operated without tariff until August 20, 2023," he said.

The Cigombong-Cibadak toll road will be connected to the Bogor area which is connected to the Jagorawi toll road. This toll road is expected to increase access to tourism areas around Lido, Sukabumi, Pelabuhan Ratu, Ujung Genteng, to Geopark Ciletuh.
